Dungeness Strikes Again..... Long Eared Owl

Long Eared Owl.

I called into Dungeness Rspb reserve yesterday the 4th December in the hope of seeing  the Long Eared Owl that was found by Richard Roberts a week ago (great find mate) , this was a new bird for my Dungeness bird list (5th new bird this year) so i was very keen to see it.

Having a preen.

I really enjoyed watching this bird although it just basically just sat there roosting , although it did have a bit of a preen at one stage , quite alot of birders enjoyed this bird whilst i was there, good to met Liam , Adrain & Martin  plus i also bumped into Mike Hook in the Makepeace hide later in the day. Back to the birds where i saw both male & female Goldeneye from the hides.

Male Goldeneye.

Female Goldeneye.

Plus i saw 4 Redhead Smew from the Dennis hide which were distant most of the time.

Redhead Smew from a previous visit.

I then headed off to Pett Level to try and see the elusive Glossy Ibis but had no luck this time , however there were good numbers of Curlew , Ruff ,Lapwing & Dark Bellied Brent Geese plus a Peregrine flew over putting everything up in the air. I took a few photos of them plus a Grey Heron put in an appearance.
